Alayna, the force behind clothing and accessory line Sexy Ink Girls (S.I.G.), gets her inspiration from “pop culture, tattoos, comic books, fashion, rock music, and soft porn.” Guests who touch down in Room 207 will discover all of these elements, from the blue-haired cowgirl’s impossibly arched and be-nippled body to her fabulously scrunched high-heeled boots with real blue suede and rhinestone applique detailing.
Many Painted Rooms artists have tapped into a pool of stock hotel room themes, from creating restful havens to simulating fugitive hideouts. Alayna, like a female Buffmonster (Room , has tackled the “hotel room sex” theme head-on, though she insists that her aesthetic embodies "sexy from a girl's perspective."
“The girls of Sexy Ink Girls are called ‘Sexy Bitches,’ which pretty sums it up: sexy with an attitude, like Cheesecake with a twist. Everyone is always jumping to big conclusions about some secret second sexy life I must have, but really my art is just a portrayal of one version of an idolized identity that I think most women have in common.”
Any lover of the female form will get more than her money’s worth surrounded by Alayna’s cowgirl’s swirling hair and six-feet-long legs. The clean, long lines and rounded scoops were not easily achieved, the artist explains, since she had only a weekend to work and arrived with only the color scheme in mind.
“I drew and designed everything on the fly,” she says. “The difficult elements wore working in such a large scale, working quickly and spontaneously, painting on a super-textured surface, and not being able to use my beloved watercolors.”
In the interest of housekeeping, at least, it’s probably best that she worked in acrylics.
